Department Information:
The Structural Hull discipline provides Engineering and Design service to the Group Product Lines, which includes studies, proposals, technology development, Pre-FEED projects, FEED projects, EPCI projects and brownfield projects. The typical scopes in the Structural Hull Discipline are:
- Strength verifications and structural design of tanker conversions or new build hulls of FPSO projects;
- Integration structural design on the FPSO hull;
- Concept and basic design of new FPSO hulls;
- Support to the Technology Development for FPSO, FLNG, and Renewable product lines in bringing new products and technology to the market;
- Support to the vessel acquisition team in the selection of donor tankers for conversion projects;
- Support to SBM fleets on fleet activities and brownfield projects;
- Offshore inspection of tankers and yard support during conversion & new build projects.
Role Description:
In this line management role as Discipline Manager Structural Hull, you are responsible for maintaining and developing the team skill sets within the discipline. You are responsible for allocating resources to ensure engineering project tasks are completed within budget, schedule, quality and safety requirements. You take ownership of the overall quality and performance of work performed by the Discipline. In your role, you must manage uncertainty and provide guidance to the team such that projects are properly executed and risk is managed.
Furthermore, you shall:
- Ensure efficiency of the work by continuous improvement of tools and engineering processes;
- Ensure that interfaces with other disciplines and stakeholders are consistent and aligned;
- Manage talent development and resource development, providing individual growth opportunities through training, coaching and mentoring;
- Promote the development of knowledge and expertise within SBM and stay abreast of the latest developments in technology;
- Manage and develop the network with engineering subcontracting companies.
You will report to the Manager of the Product Design Department.
Role Requirements:
Our preferred candidate for the role of Discipline Manager Structural Hull has a University or Technical College education (MSc or BSc degree) with at least 10 years of experience in Structural Hull design in the (offshore) Oil & Gas industry. You bring strong leadership skills in managing a team that may be working both locally in the office and remotely from site. You are best described as communicative, stress-resistant, organization-sensitive and decisive. You are willing to travel when necessary.
