The role is responsible for inspection and maintenance of survey and positioning equipment and on logistical related aspects. This role will report directly to the Survey Workshop Manager.

Primary tasks

  1. Provide cover and support for workshop manager as required in all aspects of daily workshop operations.
  2. Responsible for conducting inspection, repair, calibration, and maintenance of survey equipment.
  3. Liaise with suppliers to repair damaged or faulty equipment in-house or arrange out-of-house repair and follow the process.
  4. Update records of equipment maintenance, service, calibration, failure and repair, and close out fault reports submitted from the offshore teams.
  5. Responsible for the receiving, offloading, and storage of Asset equipment.
  6. Ensure equipment is suitably packed for shipment (to or from the workshop) to safeguard the serviceability.
  7. Assist Support Engineers as required in equipment selection and asset availability in support of project requirements.
  8. Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to offshore survey teams for all equipment matters and liaise with equipment suppliers to resolve technical issues.
  9. If required, assist vessel mobilisations and demobilisations by liaising with the support team, utilising internal documents as reference.
  10. Check received orders & goods in to warehouse and register all new equipment into the department Asset tracking system.
  11. Maintain inventory and stock levels of all equipment and consumables.
  12. Contribute to Survey equipment technical updates, bulletins, etc.
  13. Maintain necessary tools and equipment required to execute survey equipment maintenance and repair.
  14. Work according to the department QA/QC procedures, standards and specifications and contribute to their improvement.
  15. Actively partake in research and development of internally designed solutions to meet project requirements.

Required Qualifications/Training

  • College/University education and/or industry training in survey related electronic engineering.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in an onshore workshop environment, inspecting, testing and maintaining survey equipment.
  • Experience in the installation and interfacing of survey equipment and sensors.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings (both electronic and mechanical).

Desirable but not Essential

  • Experience in a calibration laboratory.
  • Equipment manufacturers training courses.
  • Experience of AutoCAD.
